Atomic Floyd TwistJax Headphones

Atomic Floyd's TwistJax headphones are some of the priciest available - but are they worth it? Perhaps...

Price: £129.99
Available from: http://www.atomicfloyd.com/twistjax

Atomic Floyd is a UK based company that currently offer five different models; AirJax, AirDrum, HiDefDrum, HiDefJax and now the TwistJax.

By now you will undoubtedly have noticed the price tag, and whilst it is quite a hefty one the TwistJax are in a different league to most others. For starters there's the cloth-covered cable, the gold plated connections and included airplane adaptor - oh yes and they metal bits are carved out of "intelligent metals". Right from the start the have an air of luxury about them.

One of the features that makes these earphones stand out is the fact that you can twist the ear-canal piece seperately from the earpiece to create a secure and comfortable fit even if you have ears that most earphones fall out of!

Sound quality is excellent and when listening to a track with lots of bass these earphones really do come into their own. Frequency response is great and most tracks sounded natural.
The TwistJax also do a pretty good job of blocking noise from the world around you making the whole experience even more pleasant.

There are only a couple of downsides to the TwistJax, the first one been the way that the left and right earpieces are identified by a very small 'L' or 'R' which is quite hard to see against the metal. The other downside is that the metal does have a tendancy to be quite cold when you first put them in, but it didn't bother us unduly.

Obviously as they are made of metal they are heavier than most earphones, but once you've got them in you can quite easily forget that they're there!

At nearly £130 are they worth it then? Well, sound quality is superb, they're well built and comfy but the price does put them firmly in the hands of people who really do appreciate their music and want something a hundred times better than the standard plastic types that come with most portable audio players.
