Sky+ on Android
Sky has launched its free Sky+ Remote Record Application on Google Android Devices.
Sky has extended its Sky+ app to Google Android devices enabling Android users with a Sky+ or Sky+HD set-top box to set recordings of their favourite programmes while on the move and no matter where they are in the world.
The easy to use application is free to download from Google Apps Marketplace and gives customers access to Sky’s seven-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), where they can browse listings by time, day or programme name, and then select programmes to record or series link. Once a recording request has been sent to the customer’s set-top box, a message appears on screen confirming that the show will be recorded and ready for them to watch when they get home.
David Gibbs, Sky Mobile General Manager said: “The success of the Sky+ app indicates that there is a real demand for innovative products such as Remote Record, which gives our customers more choice and control to plan their viewing over the TV love when they are on the move and away from home”.
The new Sky+ Google Android app follows on from the successful launch of the iPhone app last year and further expands the range of remote recordings options already available on other mobile handsets.
The Sky+ app has had over a million downloads to date and is part of a wide range of apps available from Sky which include Sky Mobile TV, the RTS award-wining Sky News app, Sky Sports Football Score Centre and Sky Sports Cricket Score Centre.
